Why Choose EuroThread?

100% polyester, knot-free

Durable, high-strength polyester threads designed for heavy-duty bag closure, ensuring reliable performance in demanding industrial packaging applications.

Custom colours from 500 kg

Order bespoke threads (minimum 500kg) to prevent counterfeiting or enhance branding with unique, logo-inspired colours tailored to your needs.

Fits the main bag closer brands

Our sewing and closure bag threads are optimised for Fischbein, Union Special, and Newlong machines, supporting bi-colour double chain stitch systems.

Shrink-wrapped, SGS certified

Paraffin-coated threads (7% standard, 3-25% customisable) are shrink-wrapped, ensuring optimal storage, preservation, and consistent performance for industrial use.

What does 20/4 Nm mean on a bag closing thread?

Our threads are classified using the Metric Standard (Nm) for most European markets and the English Standard (Ne) for English-speaking regions. For example, a 12/4 (Ne) thread equates to a 20/4 (Nm) thread, meaning four strands together yield 20,000 metres per kilogram (approximately 5,000 metres per kilo with paraffin). White threads, or those with predominantly white strands, are the most cost-effective, while custom-coloured threads add value and distinction.

Where these specifications come from

The figures on this site are the manufacturing specifications of the thread we supply, not industry averages. The food-contact claim rests on SGS testing against Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. The certificate is available on request before a first order.

What we do not claim

Consumption per bag is an estimate for a 600 mm bag and varies with your stitch length, seam width and machine settings. Breaking strength is a guaranteed minimum, not a typical value. We supply thread only: we do not manufacture or service the bag closing machines listed for compatibility.

Bag closing thread: your questions answered

Is delivery really included and is there no VAT?

Yes. The price shown is the final price throughout the delivery area: delivery, packaging and handling are included. Business customers with a valid intra-community VAT number are invoiced without VAT.

Which bag closing machines is the thread compatible with?

All portable and stationary bag closers using a single or double chain stitch: Fischbein, Union Special, Newlong (NP-7A, DS-9C, HR-4A), Yao Han, Siruba and Aurel among others.

What is the breaking strength of the 20/4 thread?

A minimum of 8 kg, held consistently because the thread is produced knot-free. That is the working reference for open-mouth bags of 25 to 50 kg.

Is the thread certified for food contact?

Yes. It is SGS tested against EU regulation 10/2011 and FDA requirements, which covers flour, sugar, animal feed, chemicals and similar bagged products.

What is the difference between the 5 kg and the 7 kg cone?

The 7 kg cone is supplied in white only and gives the lowest cost per kilogram, for continuous high-volume lines. The 5 kg cone is available in white, black, red, green and blue.

Which cone suits a portable bag closer?

The 200 g cone. It is sized for the holder of handheld machines such as the Fischbein F. Automatic sewing heads take the 5 kg or 7 kg cone instead.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

No. A single carton can be ordered. The 500 kg minimum applies only to custom colours and printed thread.

What are the delivery times?

Two to three working days in France, three to five working days to Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland, after a handling time of one working day at most.

Can the thread be ordered in a custom colour?

Yes, from 500 kg. Dyeing to an exact Pantone reference is available, as is printing a logo along the thread to deter counterfeiting.
